Our Driver & Cook
We have hired a cook, housemaid and a driver which was a little difficult to get used to at first.

Our driver
Suresh opens the door for me and likes to carry my shopping into the house and he is our only source for finding things such as what shop to go to to buy electrical goods. For example today we went shopping for a Oven toaster grill. we left at 10:30 and didn't arrive home until 2 o'clock, we had no lunch by this stage so we were all a bit hungry! That's just what life is like here in Chennai.

Our Cook
Jayanthi our Cook she speaks and understands English very well

Jayanthi has one daughter who is at school she is 15 she lives away from home and Jayanthi only sees her twice a year once in the middle of the year for school break and then again at the end of the school year. Jayanthi was going to a wedding on this day and she told us it would take 2 hours to get there by bus she has a motorbike but you can't go on a bike with the outfit she has on.

The next day Jayanthi didn't get home until 5 o'clock in the morning she works at the neighbours house as well and she had to go and prepare his breakfast then come to our house to do the same for us so she had little sleep and off she went to have a sleep as soon as she had finished serving us and Mark was off to work she also packs lunch for Mark to take to work.

Our Housemaid
Parapha our housemaid is also a nice young lady but she dose not speak English or understand it too well so Jayanthi is the interpreter for us as well. I showed her how to make our bed she never seemed to put all the pillows on the bed and left a cover off there are a few more chores I need to show her how to do as well we will get there.

Trying to cook
I have attempted to cook a cake but alas I used the wrong kind of flour there are a lot of different flours here now I just have to find the right flour for my needs....Jayanthi to the rescue she told me which flour to purchase so maybe my cake will work next time hmm... we will see! I made some Anzac Biscuits today in my new oven they worked, I'm amazed.
so far things are going good and I'm loving every moment.
